Note that Ryan was signaling to me that he was struggling. I was able to use this reflection to give him some extra attention.

These reflections take little time. I set an alarm to go off five minutes before the end of class to remind us to start the reflective process. I found this especially helpful when teaching remotely; the reflections served as an exit slip for students to leave our shared Zoom room. They also gave me deep insight into what was going on in my students' lives. For example, one student shared some personal information that I was able to follow up on:

During this time of the coronavirus, my family has not been directly affected by the disaster. However, my aunt's friend unfortunately passed away due to the coronavirus, and the situation seems surreal. In addition, for the homework load this week, I haven't experienced too much homework.—Lauren, grade 11 physics student
